Guest Speaker Nickie Monica

  
 

The guest speaker for the honorable occasion was State Representative Nickie Monica of District 57 in St. John the Baptist Parish. Rep. Monica, an instrumentation graduate of ITI, delivered a message of encouragement and diligence to a graduation class of 34 and an audience of approximately 300 people. Rep. Monica stressed the importance of working hard to achieve goals and of maintaining continuous communication with ITI. He attended the ceremony with his wife Dawn, 3 of their daughters and a family friend.

 
 

Opportunities for Graduates !

  
 

Entergy Riverbend has developed an internship program with ITI that is scheduled to start in July.  Qualifications include:

1) Current enrollment in HVAC, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Process Technology;
2) Completion of at least 3 terms in the ITI program;
3) No grade of “F” in coursework or on transcript;
4) 2.00 GPA or better in all math courses;
5) Clean FBI background check; and
6) Good standing with ITI College. 

Over 17 students have submitted resumes for the coveted 12 intern spots.  Interviews for the program will take place Monday, May 19th.  Selections will be made during the month of June.  The program is scheduled to run from July to December.

James Andersen, III, a recent Industrial Instrumentation graduate, has accepted a job with Dow USA.  James completed a successful 140-hour internship at the Dow – St. Charles site.  Although there was no guarantee of a permanent position once his program ended, his coach, fellow teammates and team leader saw his capabilities and made an opening available to him in the instrumentation field.  In addition to graduating from ITI, James holds two associate degrees for Nicholls State University in Safety Technology and Petroleum Services.  He hopes to have a long-term career in the plant industry, possibly expanding to the safety field in the future.
 
 

Friday, April 11th at Healing Place Church

 
ITI Technical College recently held its spring graduation ceremony at Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge.  Over 300 family members and friends attended the ceremony along with many of the instructors and administration of ITI.

The graduating class consisted on 39 students completing their studies in Air Conditioning and Electrical Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Instrumentation, Instrument & Control Systems Technology, Information Technology, Office Administration, Process Technology, and Technical Drafting.  Several graduates received the Magna Cumme Laude Award, Gold Award, Silver Award, Dean’s List Award, and Perfect Attendance Award.

Joseph London, a Technical Drafting graduate, was selected as the recipient of the
Joe Martin, Jr. Award.
This award is given to a graduate who excels in not only academics, but also lab performances, craftsmanship, overall work ethic, and has a positive attitude and a strong sense of character.
