Our guiding axiom is found in the old proverb,
“Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day; teach him to fish and he can eat for a lifetime.”

Our Vision

The vision of ITI Technical College is to be recognized by business, industry and our community for our excellence in providing technical career training.  We assist business and industry in meeting their human resource needs by providing qualified prospective employees, and through our Industry Division offer skills testing, evaluation, and continuing educational opportunities to their present workforce.

History of ITI Technical College

Earl J. Martin, Jr., an instrument technician, founded ITI in 1973. He developed the teaching philosophy and personal interest in the student, which are still the guiding principles of ITI today. In 1981, ITI received accreditation by the Accrediting Commission of the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools, now the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. ITI began offering classes at its current facilities in 1979. Since then, courses have been added to the curriculum to widen the scope of the students and to more directly serve the needs of the business and industrial community. In 1993, the name of the school changed from International Technical Institute to ITI Technical College. That year ITI began offering Associate in Occupational Studies Degree programs. In 1998 ITI launched two new Associate in Occupational Studies Degree programs in Information Systems Technology and in Process Operations Technology. In 2005 ITI introduced a new Associate in Occupational Studies Degree program in Office Administration with Specialization in either Business Management or Medical Records Management.

Philosophy & Objectives

The primary objective of the College is to fill the vocational void that exists at the postsecondary educational level. Therefore, we are dedicated to the policy of helping each student develop to the utmost of his or her potential in the technical fields, to instill in every student the importance of performing each task well and executing the job with excellence. Our secondary objective is to provide an environment that will prepare the student for the demands of the high-tech age. By employing highly qualified instructors, ITI ensures that its students receive the quality of instruction that is essential to personal achievement. The College will continue to respond as the educational requirements of the various fields as they change. A continuous process of modification and updating is an integral component of our philosophy and objectives. The philosophy of ITI is to furnish the technical field with professionally trained, knowledgeable, sought-after graduates, thereby enabling them to become successful and productive in their community and vocation. This philosophy is the link throughout all departments: Administrative, Academic, Admissions, and Career Services, which work as a team to assist each student in a competent and professional manner.
ITI was formed to fit the needs of the businesses located in the Louisiana and Gulf Coast region.
The objective of ITI remains the same as when it was founded to train personnel to meet the job requirements of a progressive technological age. In its more than thirty-five plus years of operation, ITI has hosted educators from around the world to observe techniques of vocational education.
Today, ITI graduates are placed nationwide as they go forth to meet the rising demands for trained technicians.
